Emil Storløkken Åser second album
Release: 31 may 2024

The young, exciting guitarist Emil Storløkken Åse releases his second solo album, Electric Cave. The album is the sequel to Emil's debut, Electric Forest (2022). The project elaborates on the theme from the previous album. A dystopian world, inspired by science fiction. Rigid electronics combine and collide with spontaneous, human improvisation. This time the soundscape has moved from an open forest to a deep, dark cave. The album was recorded live at Trykkeriet Scene in Trondheim, and is being released digitally, physically on vinyl, and as a concert film.

The opening track "Shelter" drags the listener into a confined cave, where nervous guitar melodies float between the walls. Murmuring, unstable surfaces grow, leading the way deeper into the cave. "Forgotten Glacier" with dancing, icy echoes from a bygone era reveals itself, before "Overpower Plant" appears with unclear, synthetic glitches that end in massive, mechanical crashes. Finally, on "Wish I'd Said Goodbye", the listener reaches the end of the cave, provoking a final melancholic theme. Throughout the album, it is the lonesome, intense nerve of Emil's playing that carries the music through the mysterious, synthetic world.

I often imagine stories in my head when I listen to and create music. Fictional worlds to explore. Maybe I'm trying to concretize feelings I get from sounds? Perhaps a push for context? At the very least,I feel it helps me process the world we live in.” - Emil Storløkken Åse
