Aksel Rønning Trio
ART’S ORGANIZED GARDEN
ART’s Organized Garden is Aksel rønning trio’s third album.
Release: 24 February 2023
The stage is set again for a new release from the young and innovative saxophone trio Aksel Rønning Trio. The band continues its close collaboration with exploration, play and musical trials, but on its third record has invited an electronic and more produced soundscape with synths, electric bass and sequencer into the interaction. The whole thing has become a fiercer and more daring expression that takes their music into a new direction, where the sound of the tight musical interaction is taken care of, and where trial and error is the essence of the creation.
The band was founded in 2018 while all three of them were studying together at “Jazzlinja” at NTNU in Trondheim. They soon noticed a connection in their musical backgrounds and preferences. This gave an easy start to the project where creativity could be unleashed and improvisation and distinctive features could take place. The album clearly shows how the trio allow themselves to play whatever comes their way with spontaneity and imaginative finesse. It is a detailed soundscape where all three members of the crew work continuously to prepare and further develop the possibilities available to the crew. Inspired by everything from MF Doom, King Geedorah to Baksaas + Høyer, Skodde and to Y-Otis, Koma Saxo and Speak Low, the Aksel Rønning Trio places itself on the border between the produced and the improvised.
Aksel Rønning is a saxophonist and songwriter who lives in Oslo. In March 2022, Aksel was awarded a work grant from the Arts Council Norway. The project in the grant application was largely about implementing pop culture in jazz music and its formats, and the Aksel Rønning Trio has acted as a platform for this. Here, Aksel's musical exploration has been allowed to flourish and develop freely.
